This homemade fruit jam is made with fresh ingredients and can last longer with the help of potassium sorbate, a food-grade preservative that prevents mold and spoilage while keeping the jam fresh for weeks.

📝Ingredients:

  • 2 cups Fresh strawberries (or any fruit of choice, chopped)

  • ½ cup Sugar or honey

  • 1 tbsp Lemon juice (for acidity and freshness)

  • ½ tsp Potassium sorbate (dissolved in 2 tbsp warm water)

  • 1 tbsp Chia seeds or pectin (for thickening, optional)

👨‍🍳Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Fruit:

    • Wash and chop the fruit into small pieces.

  2. Cook the Jam:

    • In a saucepan over medium heat, add the fruit and sugar/honey.

    • Stir occasionally and cook for 15-20 minutes, until the fruit breaks down.

  3. Add Thickener & Lemon Juice:

    • Stir in lemon juice and chia seeds/pectin if using.

    • Continue to simmer until the jam reaches a thick consistency.

  4. Incorporate Potassium Sorbate:

    • Remove from heat and let it cool for 5 minutes.

    • Stir in the potassium sorbate solution and mix well.

  5. Store the Jam:

    • Pour into sterilized glass jars and let it cool before sealing.

    • Store in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks, or longer if kept in a cool, dry place.

  6. Enjoy!

    • Spread on toast, pancakes, or use as a topping for yogurt and desserts! 🥞🍞
